Our People

Paul Olins

After studying Economics at LSE Paul joined the family wholesale produce business learning the trade at wholesale level. After a few years Paul wanted to learn more about the retail side of the produce business and as such developed on his own account a small group of shops selling top quality fruit to city workers in the square mile. When the opportunity came to get into the supermarket supply side the shops were sold and Paul joined Poupart.

In 1986 Poupart was primarily a wholesale business with a packhouse supplying citrus prepacks to Waitrose. From this small beginning Paul has been solely responsible for directing and expanding the citrus category. This has meant traveling to the main production areas and forming the relationships with the best growers which have continued to the present day.

After 20 years of working exclusively on the Waitrose account Paul has developed a deep understanding of the business and has been a pioneer during the ever changing needs of the business, being instrumental in packing at source to development of organics and more recently the Waitrose Foundation.
